An Amazing Makeover

The main level of this 36 year old home was dated.  Not only did the home have popcorn ceilings, it had engineered hand scraped hardwood flooring that had ashy spots giving it the appearance of wear and tear.  Monique’s task was to give the home an updated feel reflecting the client’s transitional style and love of color and texture.

Location: Upper Marlboro, MD

Project Overview:

The updates to the space were incredibly well thought-out and exude luxury.  The first focus of this room was replacement of the off-center fireplace mantel with stunning custom wall paneling in walnut which adds both sophistication and dimension with its 3D effect.  Incorporating fire retardant application ensures safety without compromising on aesthetics.  The inclusion of a hidden door for fire essentials is a clever touch.

The addition of two sofas makes for cozy lounging while watching tv.  The black floating shelves with chevron wallpaper in green and gold provide visual interest, while the vinyl grasscloth look wallpaper on the walls add warmth to the walls. The placement of the wall sconces flanking the art on the walls added symmetry to the space but also provides ambient lighting to the space. The color scheme and repeating of the same colors ties everything together beautifully for a cohesive and elegant look.
